At the age of 42, I realised I had gone as far as I could as a Veterinary Nurse, and my love of animals spurred me on to go back to university and study Zoology. In my first trimester, I enrolled in a core subject called “Physical Geography”. I was introduced to a science that I had never studied, the science of how the earth was formed, how it changes, and the processes involved with the changes. I fell in love……
The unit entailed a small introduction to Geology, and I soon found myself lost in the world of rocks. Entranced by the way different rocks are formed, weathered and metamorphosed, I realised I had found my passion which would encompass my love of nature…….I fell in love with rocks……
So now I am working as an Assistant Geologist with Jervois Mining, and continue my studies in Environmental Science (Conservation and Wildlife) with a major in Geology. I would never have dreamed that I would be doing this as a career…..and yet I finally feel as though I am happy…….
